Discussions on: Policy and Institutional Issues in scouting, disseminating and augmenting grassroots innovations

The awards functions are followed up by group discussions on 30th November 2001 in New Delhi. The focus of discussions is  to highlight policy and institutional issues related with grassroots innovation. An expected outcomes of the discussion is to identify and focus strategies leading to the strengthening of policy and building institutional support for scouting and augmenting grassroots innovations.  

There were all together eight groups who discussed the following points:

• Key lessons learned from the experience of innovators
• How can innovators help each other
• What kind of policy and institution incentives help speed up the process of innovation
• How to make future campaign to scout innovations more successful
• What kind of linkages with private sectors, R & D institutions and the other stake holders are intended to pursue in the future
• How micro finance groups/venture finance/institutions could provide financial support to small scale enterprises based on innovations.
• Any more suggestions for NIF
• Form and shape of Innovators and Inventors Association

The discussions would be in two sessions:

Group Discussion - I : 09:30-11:00, 30 November 2001

Group Discussion - II : 11:30-13:00, 30 November 2001

Reports presentations - : The groups would put in there discussions in the form of reports pending group presentations in the evening. 

Group presentation - : 15:30-17:30, 30 November 2001

Groups had made presentation in the evening sessions and present their reports. This had been followed by highlighting the areas of stress that the foundation is going to take.
